Himalayan Sherpa enters final of Knock Out Football

Jagjit Shrestha and Som Malla scored each as Himalayan Sherpa Club (HSC) defeated Armed Police Force (APF) 2-1 to enter the finals in Knock Out Football Tournament at Dashrath Stadium on Wednesday.

The match started in a blistered pace as both teams exchanged early attacks.

Jagjit Shrestha scored in a goal mouth melee utilizing the defensive blunder. In the first half injury time, Jeevan Sinkeman of APF was sent off for his double yellow cards. Himalayan Sherpa enjoyed lemon break with 1-0 up.

Som Malla scored second goal for his team with his nimble footwork in the second half. Noor Raj Kafle cut the deficit for Armed Police Force.

After the match, HSC skipper, Sagar Thapa said, “We are very happy to enter final but our aim is to win the title”.

HSC will meet NRT in the final to be played on 4th October

Save the Himalaya-Khumbu Festival

Action Runners

From a successful event last year in june, the organizer Sherwi Yondhen Tshoka ( A network of khumbu Sherpa Students) and iDEAS have announced the event in June 4th 2010. Morethan 2,300 people attended the two days successful Global warming and Climate change awareness event which was designed by the locals. The Event was publicized locally and internationally to focus local and international attention on the special threat of GLOF Glacial Lake Outbrust Floods). The combined use of Sports (Marathon) and culture to aware locals on climate issue can be use as tools for other regions as well.

The Annual “Beat The GLOF action run and Save the Himalaya-Khumbu Festival” will focus on creating greater international as well as local concern on the real high risks posed by Glacier Lake Outbrust Flood (GLOFS) in the khumbu Region.

This year the event is more focused to khumbu festival which is backed by short run. Last year 140 runner, 110 local dancers , dozens Aama Samuha (Women’s Group) and more than 2300 people have join hands to educate and aware locals and to lobby the international community. The “Beat the GLOf Action Run” starts from Khumjung and en route to Sanasa-Kyangjuma-Namche-Phurte-thamo-Phurte-Syangboche-Khunde and back to Khumjung. More than 30 Volunteers will be positioned at various water points along the route to support the runners and Red Cross Namche Chapter and the Famous Staff of Khunde Hospital will be on high alert to provide emergency medical help in need .

 

Sacred Dragon Dance performed by LHAMU TSHOKPA

On the same day SAVE THE HIMALAYAS-KHUMBU FESTIVAL will be held in Khumjung village with lots of fun and attractions. This year’s major Attraction will be Handicraft products of Thame Valley (Initiate and Supported By The Mountain Institute) and the HIMALAYAN RANCH “The Yak Ride” a first of it’s kind in Nepal. Traditional dance competition from different villages and stalls of local delicacies from Ama Samuha will add extra energy. The day will continue with traditional Sherpa dance party “Chhyangdung” and DJ party.

Last year monks from different monasteries and the member of LHAMU TSHOKPA ( Tibetan Dance Group) have accompanied the event by clashing cymbals, trumpet and presenting the popular Singhi Dance ( Sacred Dragon dance).

The event is Organized by Sherwi Yondhen Tshokpa ( A network of khumbu Sherpa students ) in collaboration with iDEAS (Initiatives for Development and Eco Action Support ) with a support of The North Face, SNP Buffer Zone management committee, DNPWC, Nepal Tourism Board, WWF Nepal, Asain Trekking, Nepal Mounteneering Association, The Himalyan Trust, Agni Airlines, NATTA, Himalayan Eco Resorts, Paradise Lodge, Hotel camp debase, La villa Sherpani and Khunde Hospital.

विगत बर्ष झै यसपाली पनि तेन्जिङ हिलारी एभरेष्ट म्यराथुन यस् खुम्बुक्षेत्रमा हुन भएको छ, र उक्त दौडको कार्यक्रम रुपरेखा यस किसिमको रहेको छ, तद् अनुसार मेइ २९ का दिन सगरमाथाको आधार शिविर बाट नाम्चे बजारम उक्त दौड् को अन्त हुने यस्क सन्चालक हिमालयन एक्स्पेडिसन नामक एक ट्रेक्कीङ संस्था रहेको छ ,
र यस कार्य् क्रम बाट खासै केही उप्लदी नरहेको स्थानिय खुम्बुलेहरुको गुनासो रहेको छ, यस खुम्बु भेगका लागि काम गर्ने स्थानिय क्लब र नागरिक समाजले  यस्तो विश्व विख्यात पर्वतारोहिहरुको नाम सँग जोडीएको हस्तिहरुको कार्यक्रम च्यारिटी कार्यक्रम मार्फत मात्रा हुनुपर्छ बनी बारम्बार आग्रह गरेका छन। यही नगरिक समाज र युवा समुह मिलेर गत केही समय अगी हिलारी र गिरिजा प्रशाद कोइरालको अस्रु सगरमाथा को टुप्पोमा सेलौन बाट स्थानिय धर्म विपरित हुने हुँदा रोकेको थियो
